Zambrano and Benson

What would you prefer to have now Mets fans:

Anna Benson --- saying too much about what she's catching?

or

Victor Zambrano -- saying too little about how he's pitching?

The Mets have made an interesting conscious decision:

They traded two middle of the rotation guys -- Benson and Seo -- for two set-up guys -- Sanchez and Julio.

Now they need another middle-of-the-rotation guy, but they prefer to keep their best in-house option --- Heilman --- in the bullpen as a set-up guy.

We've seen a few example of starters in their prime being converted to closers -- Smoltz and Righetti, for example.

However, I can't remember ever seeing a situation where an organization has repeatedly taken actions that say that your 7th and 8th inning guys are more valuable to your team than your 4 and 5 starters.

Has the game changed so much? Are the Mets right?

That's why they play the games.
